Europe’s largest retail and leisure destination


In Zaragoza, capital of Aragón and Spain’s 5th largest city will open in autumn 2012 Puerto Venecia, Europe’s largest retail and leisure destination. The 206,000 sq m project brings together fashion, sport, retail, dining, film and adventure into a unique experience for visitors. Regional destination with an estimated footfall of 20 million visitors per year. The Retail Park, integrated within two landscaped parks, a lake and a canal, welcomes over 6,000,000 visitors per year. Of those, 20% come from other regions from the Northeast of Spain. The fashion mall and leisure, sports and adventure areas are currently under construction and will open in autumn 2012. The total direct investment in the project is €400m (and indirect investment is estimated at €600m). The population in the catchment has an average net income almost 10% above national average (according to latest average income report from NIE). The estimated total spend for goods and leisure in 2012 for the catchment is €10,863m (Source: Market opportunities in Puerto Venecia – R&T). Puerto Venecia is a unique blend of retail, leisure, activity, recreation and adventure integrated within two landscaped parks, a lake and a canal. The scheme’s unique concept will ensure repeat visits and offer a real point of difference, generating high footfall.

Puerto Venecia will provide the widest range of fashion offer in Spain with the country’s largest dedicated fashion mall and brings the major brands of Ikea and El Corte Inglés together in one destination for the first time as well as Primark’s largest store in Spain at 6,570sq m. Leading national and international tenants such as Zara (and all the Inditex brands), H&M, Desigual, Sportzone,... etc. with open their flagship stores for the region. Within the mall, the area that leads to the canal and the rock from Desigual will combine young fashion with well established design brands.

To ensure Puerto Venecia leads by example in demonstrating Environmental Best Practice through its Design, Construction, Operation and ongoing collaboration with the Tenants, Public and Local Amenities:

- Use land wisely & protect areas of natural beauty.

- Use less energy and more environmentally friendly forms of energy including the application of renewable technology.

- Limit the amount of water treated for human consumption and increase the amount of environmentally friendly supply and drainage systems.

- Reduce the amount of raw materials used for construction, consider appropriate means of extraction of materials that are plentiful and encourage local sourcing of materials.

- Provide safe disposal of used materials that cannot be recycled.

- Protect and enhance wildlife and bio-diversity.

- Take a proactive role in educating both the tenants & public in environmentally responsible action.
