France Presidents Exhibition in Nice

Presidents Presidents exhibitions at Nice Villa Massena

On March 2 at the Villa Massena, Mr Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of Nice Côte d'Azur inaugurated the exhibition "Presidents Presidents" (exhibition until March 19).

Nice and the Côte d'Azur has always been a destination for official kings, princes, and presidents of the Republic. This appointment by the image of the 23 presidents had the honor of the prestigious setting of the Villa Massena.

Visitors will be able to put a face on those presidents who are the symbol of France republican and national unity.

This presidential gathering is to share the path taken by the French democracy, celebrating in a respectful way, our former and current Presidents, while strengthening the function of today and solidifying the Republic of tomorrow.

We owe the creation and realization of this exhibition to Alain Trampoglieri, General Secretary of the Golden Marianne national competition and administrator of Radio France, who was a journalist at the Elysée Palace and made his name on the famous porch. Over the years he has collected portraits of our elder statesmen in town halls. To make attractive this tribute to the Republic, Alain Tranpoglieri appealed to young creators and designers and new technology to revisit these portraits, that until the Fourth Republic, were shot in black and white.

Christian Estrosi who won the national exclusivity of this educational, plural and Republican event, said in his speech that it was obvious, amazing and necessary. The exhibition also highlights the solemn visits of Napoleon III, consecutive to the attachment of 1860, the first President in France history; he was also the first French head of state to visit Nice as part of these functions. Felix Faure in 1896, presided over the unveiling ceremony of the Centennial, and in 1909 when Armand Fallieres took part in the unveiling ceremony of Leon Gambetta's monument, who was present on Liberation Square and was destroyed in 1943 by the occupant, or the meeting in 1920, when Paul Deschanel took advantage of his stay to announce the rehabilitation of soldiers from the XV Corps, an act which had so much at the heart of Nice and then of course when General de Gaulle came to say the mutual love of Nice and France. At the end of his speech Mr. Estrosi thanked the organizers of this wonderful event, and invited the public to discover the exhibition.
