Cannes Harbour Station Renovated

The Old Port of Cannes harbour station renovated

The new harbour station was inaugurated on February 16 with the presence of Mr Bernard Brochand, Deputy Mayor of Cannes, Mr Eric Ciotti, Deputy Chairman of the Alpes Maritimes Department Council and Mr Bernard Kleyhnoff, President of the CCI. The original building built in 1932 and transformed by the architect Buzzi in the 50s is coming off a year of renovation and upgrading. Funded by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), port manager, the renovation has focused on the rehabilitation of the facades and the advantage of the building and the renovation of the 900 m2 large room on the ground floor  to provide users with the best security conditions, handicapped access and comfort. Located on the old port of Cannes, the harbour station is adjacent to the Palais des Festivals and its entrance faces it; thus is it a exceptional location to welcome the thousands of cruise passengers disembarking from giant liners to discover Cannes. But this space, which one can modulate the volume and surface area thanks to movable partitions, will also help accommodate exhibitions and large events in addition to the Palais des Festivals. The renovation also allowed to highlight the fresco by Roger Capron, now installed inside the station. The works have needed an investment of nearly one million euros, reflecting the will of the CCI and the city of Cannes to develop and beautify the port.
