Harvey Weinstein and Michael Flateley to create World Dance Awards


At the press conference on October 9 at MIPCOM 2012 in Cannes, the American film and television producer Harvey Weinstein announced that he would produce a televised ceremony consisting of numbers who will award each year the great dancers of the moment. Harvey Weinstein has associated for these future "World Dance Awards," which could include eight to ten different awards, with the American dancer and choreographer Michael Flateley. The annual event, which he compared to the Grammy Awards(music) and Oscars (film), could take place in April or May. Harvey Weinstein co-directs with his brother Bob the production and distribution company The Weinstein Company. The two brothers were also co-founder of Miramax Films. Harvey Weinstein especially distributed in the United States the French film "The Artist", which won five Oscars, including best film. During his interview he has said: "TV has become so exciting. You can do exciting things in television, and there's an audience for it and an appetite. The movie business to some extent is shrinking, and we have to look for new horizons. I think we can be creative with a limited budget, the key is to "tell a good story" and "make quality".
