midem is reinventing itself

For its 46th edition, midem has been undergoing a makeover orchestrated by the music industry market's new director Bruno Crolot. "We're keeping the fundamentals, but we're aware of the need to widen our positioning to encompass a broader range." he explained. To adapt to the natural evolution in the music market, a number of innovations have been implemented to reach a larger ecosystem around music creation. midem, which this year ran from Saturday to Tuesday, brought together technology companies, advertising agencies and brands around artists and traditional music industry players, participants reaching to 6,900.

Managers, promoters, labels, brands, labels, publishers, established artists, and independent bands all met at Midem to dialogue and share ideas. Visionary Monday provided Midem delegates with access to a host of forward thinkers for a day of high-octane conferences by industry experts, discussions, presentations and data exchange focussing on audience engagement. midem 2012 has welcomed 30 developers, hackers and creative designers from around the world for 48 hours to design a new generation of music applications. Tech companies, startups and app developers have showcased their latest technology and global technology players find all new business partnerships and exciting opportunities on how to engage audiences with music.

"2012 is the year of change for midem," concluded midem Director Bruno Crolot. "It's been a challenge, but by completely rethinking the event, redoubling our efforts to attract tech companies and brands to Cannes and putting music and artists at the heart of midem, we have seen the hard work rewarded."
