Brother Marie-Pâques Interview

Brother Marie Pâques promotes Lerins wines of at Agecotel

Among the visitors noticed in the 25th edition of Agecotel was Brother Marie Pâques who manages the production of wine from the Lerins Islands and its promotion through the Lérina Company, created by the Saint Honorat Island monks, located 20 minutes off the bay of Cannes. The private island has been home for 16 centuries of the monastery of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception, property of 25 Cistériens monks who live in this paradise of sun, a jewel of greenery, freshness and silence. The vines are maintained by an employee, Alain Valles, vineyard manager, and the grapes produced are vinified and bottled under the supervision of Brother Marie Pâques, cellar master, assisted by a Swiss winemaker. Thus 42,000 bottles are produced each year, mainly composed of two grape major varieties: Sirah and Clairette, to give the two main wines of the island, whose prices are ranging from 22 to 190 euros.

In the interview, Marie Pâques said he was at Agecotel for the promotion of "living through his wines", synonymous with friendliness. He wanted to be the humble pilgrim delivering his message of peace and justice, just an architect of the brotherhood. Brother Marie Pâques also recalled that the Lerins Island products were partner of major Cannes events including the recent G20 where the monks wines have had the great honor and privilege to be enjoyed  by the greatest head-of- states of this world. A promotion trip to Moscow is scheduled shortly as well as a trip to the United States, including New York, for the fourth quarter of 2012. On January 28th at the Abbey, under the hammer of Maître Besch and with the expert Pascal Kunzniewski, the monks will organize an auction sale of 100 lots comprising one, three or six bottles, a few "Imperials", and a lot of different vintages of the Abbey. The proceeds of the sale will be donated to various associations. The monks products and actions are present on social networks. Brother Marie Pâques has just wrote a book " En Quête de Sens, Crises, Affaires et Spiritualité" (Looking for Sens, Crisis, Affairs and Spirituality) that will be released at the book fair in Paris next March.
