Music gains height
The Nuits Musicales du Suquet, from July 23 to 28, have been announcing since 2011 a new modernity in which the unexpected interfers in a conventional programming. Surprises abound, like Paolo Miccichè's visual design to meet Mozart, or singer Juliette inviting herself to the concert of two major soloists: Sarah Nemtanu, violin and Anne-Lise Gastaldi, piano. The iconoclast William Sheller, alone with his piano with whom he shares his thirty-six year career, fits perfectly to the identity of the Festival, a real ride through musical genres. "Chopin tells about Chopin" a program refined by two major artists, Laure Favre-Kahn on piano and Charles Berling through the excellence of his play acting. True to its reputation, the Festival opens up to greatest soloists. In 2012, it welcomes two singular artists, virtuoso Nigel Kennedy, violin, and atypical pianist Fazil Say. Besides its famous concert performers, the Suquet also likes to reveal unknown artists, in the courtyard of the Museum of La Castre will follow one another mysterious "Sculptures Musicales," Russian revelations and the new show of the Company Meditango
Jazz à Domergue: the gardens of Jazz
Of an intimate nature, Jazz at Domergue, from August 1 to 4, is a precious pearl. Magical and intoxicating, the gardens of the villa host for a decade jazz concerts in perfect harmony with the pristine site. Again this year the musicians, committed to their art, immortalize this place, which in 2012 are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the death of Jean-Gabriel Domergue. Some major groups on the program: Brunetaud Julien, Laurent Larcher, the collective 5 AM, and the singer Kellylee Evans. Jazz at Domergue is the essence of an inventive, passionate and free music.
