First Oyster Opening World Cup

 

Culinary competition "The first Oyster-sellers World Cup "


Organized by Marcel Lesoille, five times world record holder for the opening of oysters, the event was held under the Honorary Presidency of the Jacques and Laurent Pourcel brothers, trebly starred from 1998 to 2006 at the "Jardin des Sens" (Garden of Senses) in Montpellier, ambassadors of Gastronomy on the France Pavilion in the Shanghai World Expo, who have just opened the restaurant "Sea Sens" in the brand new boutique-hotel "Five Hotel & Spa" in Cannes. The competition was hosted was by Carinne Teyssandier who has been proposing over 4 years in the "Télématin" broadcast gourmet recipes and Rungis in live duplex.

The competition was reserved for only 12 professional oyster-sellers, male or female, engaged in an activity relevant to the seafood (shellfish farming and inshore fishing) in a food establishment like fish shop, restaurant or other profession in France. They had to make a large individual tray of seafood. The candidates came from around the world to participate in the competition: France, Belgium, Romania, Greece, Ireland, Canada, Portugal, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Algeria, Spain, Netherlands, Vietnam… The President of the jury was Max Bourgeois, winner of the 2008 edition.


The winner of the 2012 edition is Cristian Perria (Italy), "Café de Turin" (Nice). He will be appointed President of the jury for the next edition of AGECOTEL in 2014 and will be part of the members of the Organizing Committee.

Second: Bruno Thevenin (France), "La Ferme Marine" (Tassin la Demi-Lune).

The third is Eric Gumpel (Israel), "The Milano" (Fréjus)

Competition held in partnership with Marennes Oléron Oysters, Pomona TerreAzur, Dany, Tout Technique, PDM, Air France, OSO, Laurent Perrier and the Café de Turin.
