CST’s Vulcan Prize

CST's Vulcan Prize sets the Pantiero afire!

On May 25, during the Festival de Cannes on the stand of the CST, located, as usual, on the Espace Pantiero facing the old port of Cannes, was awarded the Vulcan Prize. This year, the two winners are Remy Julienne, in tribute to his long career as a film stuntman and José Luis Alkaline for his film La Piel Que Habito.

To honor Rémi Julienne, a stuntman presented him the Vulcan Prize after having set himself afire. Amazing effect!

The Vulcan Prize of the technician artist awardq an experienced technician for his collaborative of creative work to a film belonging to the official competition. Awarded by a jury appointed by the CST (Commission Supérieure Technique de l'Image et du Son), it is an integral part of the official prizewinners.

The year's jury  was chaired by André Ceuterick (General Delegate of the Mons International Festival of Love Film) and was composed of Jean Yves Le Poulain, Jean Jacques Bouhon, Todd Schall-Vess, Mikael and Olivier Gaudin Affre, members all part to varying degrees of the cinema family.

The CST allows members and partners to share their visions of the cinema on the stand. The CST team provides the technical direction of the Festival de Cannes screenings. Pierre William Glenn is the conductor of this technical direction. Alain Besse, responsible for the CST broadcasting, is the coordinator. Hans-Nikolas Locher, is responsible for research and development and manages more specifically the digital content and KDM. Eric Chériox is responsible for postproduction and also works on the digital workflow.

For the CST, Cannes 2012 was a very important festival in the artistic and technical field. New technologies, indeed are imperative and digital screening now seems to have good times ahead. The CST is lending its support to its mastery and excellence.
