Franco-American ceremony after the G20 Summit


At the end of the G20 summit, on Friday, November 4, 2011, the french President of the Republic participated with the U.S. President Barack Obama in a ceremony to commemorate the length and depth of friendship between France and the United States, and to acknowledge the work of French and American military who took part in operations in Libya. The ceremony was held at the War Memorial near the Cannes town hall. The two presidents participated in honors and hymns, performed a review of troops, and a wreath-laying. Nicolas Sarkozy spoke to exalt the bonds of friendship between the United States and France, dating from the United States fight for freedom from British tutelage, with the providential intervention of Lafayette on earth and the Admiral de Grasse at sea, and which have never been strained. During his speech, Barack Obama confirmed the unbreakable friendship between the two countries, which was still evident during the intervention in Syria to avoid a disaster in civilian populations.
